The debut full-length album from this English duo has a charming rural pop sound with banjos, glockenspiels, recorders and fiddles, thumping away in a quirky indie / folk style.
English duo The Boy Least Likely To release their debut full-length album 'The Best Party Ever'.
The Boy Least Likely To are composer / multi-instrumentalist Pete Hobbs and lyricist / singer Jof Owen. The pair met while still at school, growing up in the small Buckinghamshire village of Wendover. They spent their teens buying records and putting together a collection of weird and wonderful instruments found in second hand shops, craft fairs and early education centres. A collection that would be used in all its eclectic glory when it came to making this album.
Strongly influenced by the independent bands of the 1980s, the songs on 'The Best Party Ever' bring to mind the post punk playfulness of Aztec Camera and Dexys Midnight Runners. A charming rural pop sound with banjos, glockenspiels, recorders and fiddles, thumping away in a quirky indie / folk style. The music is heartfelt and uplifting with unique and sweetly eccentric lyrics. They make disco music with a country heart. Sublime pop moments tinged with an English folk eccentricity. Sad songs that can't help but make you smile.
