The CTC brings forth an original and powerful, exciting and artful compound of radio-friendly kind of alternative hard rock.
Post-hardcore five-piece The Cooper Temple Clause make a welcomed return with their studio album 'Make This Your Own'.
The Cooper Temple Clause formed in Reading, England during the late 1990s. They quickly gained a strong fan-base through live performances and were soon signed to the RCA label in 2000 at the young age of 19. Their debut album 'See This Through And Leave' was released in 2002, and secured them a dedicated cult following. However it was 2003s 'Kick Up The Fire And Let The Flames Break Loose' with its UK top 40 hits "Promises Promises” and "Blind Pilots” which made them a verifiable success.
'Make This Your Own' sees a change in musical direction for the band. The album has a less heavy, more radio-friendly style, which brings with it a sense of maturity. "We had to reinvent the wheel…” explains guitarist Dan Fisher, "…Spend more time on the songwriting. The experimentation comes naturally to us - it's the sort of band we are. More about getting the best from the tracks we'd written than letting everything end in a wig-out.”
As the The Cooper Temple Clause have three completely different vocalists in the form of Ben Gautrey (guitars and bass), Dan Fisher (also guitar and bass) and Tom Bellamy (also guitars, keys and bass) their sound is unique "Not many bands have three guys who can sing and have very different voices and we'd be stupid not to use it,” says Fisher. "Ben's voice is a good old rock voice, Tom's got the dulcet Barry White tones and I sing like a girl, and it works.”
The Cooper Temple Clause brings forth an original and powerful compound of alternative rock. Riding across different styles such as post-grunge and punk. 'Make This Your Own' presents an exciting and artful kind of hard rock.
