Emily Wang (Cheung) is a washed-up TV hostess living a quiet but drug-addicted life with rocker husband Lee and son Jay. When Lee ODs, Emily is thrown into jail for possession and Jay is sent off to his protective grandparents. On release, father-in-law Albrecht (Nolte) challenges her to go clean - to change herself into the respectable mother her son deserves. To do so, Emily returns to Paris in an effort to resurrect her entertainment career.
