Stanley Black, orchestral and pianistic maestro, is showcased on this CD, of two albums. Tracks 1-10 France DECCA LP PFS 4110 (1967) STEREO, issued here due to popular demand, features several melodies of Gallic origin as well as those that celebrate the merits of the country in question. Stanley and the London Festival Orchestra work their collective magic on a wide range of music, from Cole Porter's I Love Paris to Offenbach's Can Can, which are among many of the album's highlights. Tracks 11-19 Russia DECCA LP PFS 4084 (1966) STEREO follows the same trend, this time with the emphasis on charming arrangements of traditional melodies such as Under Moscow Skies, and music by composers including Tchaikovsky (Trepak) and Mussorgsky (The Great Gate of Kiev).
