Within the space of only ten days in May 1930, Martinu wrote his trio. It is said that the composer himself was surprised at the ease and fluency with which the trio took shape, commenting on it in his usual manner

Enrique Granados - Trio Op. 50
This trio was written when Granados was in his late twenties. The first performance was so enthusiastically received that two of the movements had to be repeated. The work is based largely on native Spanish folk songs.

Leonard Klein - Trio (1975)
The Trio has rhythmic patterns drawn from American speech. These are combined with certain sounds that are peculiar to stringed instruments. The piano maintains, for the most part, a contrapuntal texture. The form is a free association of musical ideas.

Bohuslav Martinu - Trio (Cinq pièces brèves)
Within the space of only ten days in May 1930, Martinu wrote this unusual work. It is said that the composer himself was surprised at the ease and fluency with which the trio took shape, commenting on it in his usual manner. "I don't know how I came to compose the Trio; suddenly as though it were the work of another hand, I wrote something entirely new."
