'Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace' is the sixth studio release from the Foo Fighters and marks the first time the band has worked with producer Gil Norton since 1997's double platinum 'The Colour and the Shape', which is regarded by many as their best album.
The band has kept busy since its previous studio effort, the 4x platinum double-disc 'In Your Honor', which was released in June 2005. Following a record release / Foo Fighters 10th Anniversary blow-out at Roswell, New Mexico's Area 51, the band spent the remainder of 2005 headlining arenas the world over on their biggest-selling tour to date. 2006 included an intimate theatre tour showcasing material from the quieter, second disc of 'In Your Honor' alongside unique acoustic-based arrangements of favourites from the entire Foo Fighters' canon; as documented on the live CD & DVD releases, 'Skin and Bones'. They also found time to play to the largest British concert audience of 2006, when they headlined London's Hyde Park for a crowd of 85,000 people. In 2007, The Foos then appeared at London's Live Earth concert at Wembley Stadium (July 7) to rave reviews.
'Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace' features off-the-wall tracks like "Let it Die" & "Erase Replace", which rock out big time - but also go off into tangents, with weird time signatures. Opening track "The Pretender" is a hard rock 'n' roll number also, while "The Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners" is an acoustic tribute to the pair of Tasmanian miners who were trapped underground for two weeks in 2006.
