Outstandingly laidback and little-known grooves from the originator of the "chill out" genre!

The celebrated 'Café Del Mar' compilation series was the brainchild of Ibiza's spiritual father of chill out, Jose Padilla, a DJ famed for popularizing and perfecting the emotionally charged sunset sessions at the legendary beach café bar. And now with the release of the second instalment of his new compilation series, 'Café Solo', Jose revisits his spiritual roots, celebrating Balearic music and beyond, with a superbly eclectic collection of chilled and not-so-chilled café beats!

'Café Solo 2' is a 15-track CD reflecting the perennial demand for down-tempo music as highlighted by the runaway success of festivals such as Bestival and The Big Chill. Once again Jose has selected a plethora of little known but oh-so-special eclectic gems to appeal to the multitude of boutique bar DJs, ipod playlists and crate diggers in search of their summer soundtrack. It also makes the perfect album for summer listening - or reminiscing - at home or abroad.

'Café Solo 2' steps up the game with a mix of cutting edge sounds from Gui Boratto and Per Lindstromm with some fantastic contemporary tracks from the likes of Thievery Corporation, Chilled By Nature aka Big Chill's Pete Lawrence and Chateau Flight, rubbing shoulders alongside classics by Mercury Rev, legendary Brazilian samba jazz act Azymuth and Daniel Ash's little-known Tones On Tail project from the '80s with the majestic dubbed up "Lions".

In '94 Jose Padilla teamed up with React (now Resist) to compile the first ever 'Café Del Mar' album, a timeless soundtrack showcasing the chilled side of Ibiza; a spirited mélange of ambient, soul, jazz, house, techno, classical, Hispanic and World music flavours to create a truly unique playlist. Jose's 'Café Del Mar, Ibiza Vol. Uno' became not only the first Ibiza album to be released but more importantly the first chill out/lounge CD, setting a trend that has sparked people's enthusiasm for laid back Ibiza grooves for over a decade.

More recently Jose compiled a CD for the uber-cool Paris restaurant Man Ray, while he has been DJing his legendary sunset sets at The Big Chill House in London, Glastonbury, The Big Chill Festival and from June to September, he will be promoting, hosting and DJing his own weekly party at Ibiza's hottest new venue outdoor venue, Atzaro, in Santa Eularia.
