Haere Mai - Welcome to New Zealand!
The music featured in 'Haere Mai - Welcome' represents a cross section of traditional and contemporary music of the Maori people of New Zealand. From the masculine harmonies and vigorous Haka of Te Aute College situated in the delightful country side of Hawkes Bay to the distinctive singing of St Joseph's Maori Girls' College - who enjoy the distinction of having sold more recordings worldwide than any other Maori group.
'Haere Mai - Welcome' was recorded in Te Aute Colleges' magnificent meeting house which boasts superb acoustics which do much to enhance the vocals on the 100 or so voices heard on this highly recommended New Zealand album.
