Sowing machines or musical instruments? Today, in the era of (copies of) period instruments harpsichords can not be mistaken for machines any more. Not even when four of them are playing simultaneously.
The recordings were made only a few months ago. So now you can enjoy the energetic performances of all of Bach's concertos for multiple harpsichords by Musica Amphion accompanying up to four harpsichordists. One of them is Pieter-Jan Belder, founder of and driving force behind the ensemble. Musica Amphion specializes in 17th- and 18th-century music. · Bach wrote six concertos for two to four harpsichords. Most of them are arrangements of his own music. The concerto for four harpsichords is based on Vivaldi's concerto for four violins. Still this is the real Bach in all his orchestral splendour. It is hard not to be affected by this music, especially in such persuasive performances.
