"Muti conducts a rousing but too blatant account of the raw but invigorating score. Scotto sings the most intelligent and, when needed, refined Abigaille on record, but is cruelly exposed on high where her efforts have to be described as shrieks. Manuguerra is a sensitive but slightly plain and nasal. Nabucco, Ghiaurov a powerful, authoritative but somewhat rusty Zaccaria."
(Gramophone June 1987)
"The excerpts chosen give a fair picture of the opera, even though there are important scenes that could have been included in full. No texts but a fairly detailed cue synopsis. The sound is impressive"
