M Sex scenes, offensive language & drug useAro Valley-made DV drama concerns the intersecting lives of a cast and crew on a low budget movie, and the all-too-familiar disquiet of twenty-somethings in perpetual limbo.
Perhaps expired as another remark on tenuous relationships and procrastinating adulthood, dirs. Greenhough and Kane nevertheless demonstrate good intent, where long takes and uncluttered visuals suggest a European sensibility, leaving an overall polished exterior that belies the film's miniscule budget. Other points of interest include several sly in-jokes for those in the know, a recognisable Wellington milieu, and a curious instance of life imitating art: auteur and video store employee in the film, Rob Jerram, has since joined the our ranks, while Aro Video itself enjoys a supporting role, where snarky comments by staff members and pretentious discussions about Theo Angelopoulos are not at all far from the truth!
