Stravinsky, Haas, and Hindemith committed some of their early compositions to piano rolls, and Conlon Nancarrow proved to be the master of the player piano in his Studies. Following Nancarrow and inspired by him, new composers have written for this automatic instrument, and works by them are heard on Vol. 6 of MDG's Player Piano series.
