Born in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in November 1972, Denis Azabagic is considered today as one of the best guitarist of his generation.
In 1993, at the age of 20, he becomes the youngest winner of one of the most prestigious International Guitar Competition: " Jacinto e Inocencio Guerrero", Madrid, Spain.
After his success in Madrid he is a prizewinner in virtually every competition he participates. Here are mentioned the most important ones:
-1st prize at the International Guitar Festival IGF-Frechen, Germany, 1995
-1st prize at the International Guitar Competition "Rene Bartoli"-Aix en Provence, France, 1995
-1st prize, special prize for the best interpretation of work by Francisco Tarrega and the prize of the public at the International Guitar Competition"Francicso Tarrega"-Benicasim, Spain, 1995
-1st prize at the International Guitar Competition"Manufacturas Alhambra"-Alcoy, Spain, 1996
-1st prize at the International Guitar Competition "Printemps de la Guitarre"- Bruxelles, Belgium, 1996
- 1st prize at the International Guitar Competition "Guitar Foundation of America"- Montreal, Canada, 1998
- 1st prize at the Schadt String Competition, Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA, 1999
- 1st prize at the Stotsenberg International Guitar Competition, Malibu, California, USA, 1999
In 1993 he formed duo with a flutist Eugenia Moliner Ferrer and since then they have played concerts at the festivals and concert halls throughout the Europe and USA. Today known as Cavatina duo they have recorded their first CD for the Spanish label "Opera Tres". As a soloist Denis has played with various orchestras and he gave recitals in Europe, United States and Canada. His performances took him to the famous halls such as Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Radio France in Paris, etc.
