The Dream

If Jeri Southern had been born say twenty years later, in the post-war years after 1945 which have seen enormous changes in the shape of popular music, to survive in the business as a singer/pianist she would almost have certainly been expected to have written as well as sung her material. As it is, born in 1926, she belongs to a generation blessed with the pick of songs from an extraordinary array of talented Twentieth Century writers mainly living in her home country, the United States of America. In fact, as a performer Jeri was to become another great talent herself from a land with far more than its fair share of talented singers, musicians and writers, truly "God's country".
