Natalia and Alexander, originally from Moscow (presently based in London) are both naturalised New Zealanders. The repertoire on the CD features works from some of the great composers.
Natalia and Alexander, originally from Moscow (presently based in London) are both naturalised New Zealanders. Between 1990 and 1999 they lived and worked in Christchurch and performed widely in recital and with all major New Zealand orchestras. Both have previously recorded for Ode and 'Due Celli' is the latest release.
The repertoire on the CD features works from some of the great composers. Boccherini's cello compositions are the cornerstone of the cello repertoire and featured here is the sonata in C Major for 2 Cellos. There are tie ins all the way through with Mozart's Sonata for 2 Cellos as well as Schnittke's 'Moz-Art, after sketched by Mozart. The CD follows the evolution of the cello duet from Baroque, through French Rococo styles, right through the classical period to the modern day performed by two of the world's best exponents of the instrument.
