Fujiya & Miyagi formed in Brighton in 2000 as an electronic duo of David Best (guitars and vocals) and Steve Lewis (synths, beats, programming). The pair are collectively heavily influenced by 70's Krautrock bands such as Can and Neu! as well as early-90's electronic music artists like Aphex Twin.

Early releases from Fujiya & Miyagi include a minimal electronic set which hung eerily on Best's distinctive whispered vocal; and, adding bass player Matt Hainsby, a series of ten inch EPs that took them to the hearts of fanzineland.

Compiling these vinyl rarities and adding new tracks, they presented their much-loved 'Transparent Things' in 2006 to enormous critical acclaim - awarded "Best New Music" status by Pitchfork, and with rave reviews in NME and Mojo.

'Lightbulbs' kicks off with "Knickerbocker", an irresistible Neu!-style motorik groove over which David Best works a series of nonsensical jokes in his trademark deadpan murmur. It's followed by the absolutely wild Tom Tom Club-esque "Uh". The album continues with a series of hypnotic rhythms illuminated by striking instrumental details, overlaid with Best's manipulation of polysyllabic tongue-twisters.
