Nick Granville has come a long way since his beginnings as a rock guitarist born and raised in Wellington, NZ. From the get-go, the Wellingtonian has established himself as a highly successful session musician and can be regularly seen on TVNZ's 'Dancing with the Stars', with Chris De Burgh at Mission Estate or with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Nick is also featured on many soundtracks and TV themes including 'Fair Go', 'The Breakfast Show' theme, 'Karaoke High' and many others.
Nick currently teaches jazz guitar at the New Zealand school of music and is passionate about music education. He has students traveling from all over NZ to study with him, and some travel as far as from Australia for master classes with him.
'Wishful Thinking' is Nick Granville's debut album as a bandleader, and is a collection of original material, best described as contemporary jazz. This album features some of NZ's most successful musicians including veteran saxophonist, Alex Nyman (Frank Sinatra, Chaka Khan) Darren Mathiassen; currently Hollie Smith's drummer. Also featured on Wishful Thinking is Andy Christiansen of the Black Seeds on trumpet, Rowan Clark of Mercury Crowe on bass and Mostyn Cole on Fender Rhodes.
