"I already knew the story: I like the world of delinquents, for me they were like heroes... Maybe because I came from a world of respectable people, who had steady jobs. I wanted to see the violence... I wanted to see what was behind it all..." Roberta Torre, director.

Thus the story of ANGELA begins, a young woman born in the market neighbourhood of Palermo, Sicily.

Angela is married to Saro, and for years shares his Mafia life of drug dealing and easy money. She is his wife, his mistress and his confidante. The life she leads fascinates her, she likes the luxury, the money, and above all, the risk.

When she sees Masino for the first time, she mistakes him for an undercover cop. But he becomes her husband's right-hand-man and she an Masino embark on a passionate and tormented love affair.

ANGELA is the story of a woman and her life in the solitude of a world ruled by old men. It paints the fresco of a place both cruel and disarming, where man are constantly forced to deny their true feelings.

"...based on a real-life character... a gripping portrait of a woman married to the Mafia..."
Tom Ryan, THE AGE

"ANGELA is above all a passionate story of loves and betrayals, which true to the Roberta Torre style have nothing to do with the 'real life' Mafia films churned out over the last ten years"
