From the Maghreb to Southern Africa, from the Gulf of Guinea to the islands of the Indian Ocean, the music of the African continent makes up an always-changing patchwork of sounds, colours and rhythms.

It can be acoustic or electric, more or less rooted in the tradition, it can be festive, it can be dance compelling or trance enticing, it can be meditative, leading to contemplation; it is always of incredible richness.

This second collection by Marabi presents sixteen of the label's artists (singers, composers-songwriters, instrumentalists) who are part of this creative effervescence.

"The first compilation, 'Marabi Africa' won plaudits at Elsewhere because, if nothing else, Marabi was the label which brought the great Malouma to world attention - and so this sequel commands attention immediately… It is the unfamiliar artists who offer the delight of the unexpected… All these 16 tracks are taken from the artists' album noted in the sleeve but, as with the previous collection, this acts just fine as a stand-alone album. Recommended."
- Graham Reid, Elsewhere
