Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is an artistic icon of the South Island and an established force in orchestral music within New Zealand.
Established in 1958 through the vision of Professor John Ritchie, CSO has an established core of principal and tenured players with additional contracted casual players.
CSO performs in over fifty concerts a year including performances for the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Southern Opera, Christchurch City Council events, National Concerto Competition® and the International Adam Cello Festival & Competition.
