J Paradise

Sly & Robbie remain Jamaica's most prolific + long-lasting rhythm section / production team, comprising iconic drummer Sly Dunbar & bass guitarist, the legendary Robbie Shakespeare.

Both born in Kingston, Sly, nicknamed that after his favourite musician Sly Stone, and Robbie Shakespeare started working together as Sly & Robbie in the mid 1970s. For three decades they have continued to innovate, fusing dancehall reggae & Latin music or dancehall reggae & pop or hip-hop / r&b sounds, working with the likes of Bob Dylan; Mick Jagger; the Rolling Stones; Paul McCartney; Gilberto Gil; Joe Cocker; Serge Gainsbourg; Simply Red; Sting; Carlos Santana; Fat Joe; No Doubt; Britney Spears; Fugees; and Madonna, ever expanding their musical field. Having been together more than 30 years, they are constantly touring around the world with their band Taxi Gang, and still record on a prolific scale today.

'J Paradise' is a covers album consisting completely of Japanese pop hits. Bizarre as that sounds, the sweet & groovy urban reggae interpretations presented on this disc are certain to be a winner with fans.
