The third studio album by scuzz-rockers Deja Voodoo - a re-ignition of the hard rock & punk attitude & everyman accessibility that their peers from Seattle back in the day sweated out.
'The Shape of Grunge to Come' is the third studio album by scuzz-rockers Deja Voodoo.
While the band includes the celebrated NZ maverick TV & filmmakers Chris Stapp & Matt Heath, there's no truth to the rumour that Deja Voodoo were formed to provide short "musical" interludes for 'Back of the Y' Masterpiece Television - in fact, at least one member of the band has publicly stated he would rather "stuff his arse with broken glass" than be seen in a Stapp / Heath production.
There is a long history behind Deja Voodoo, which is a classic story of adversity & triumph that might surprise music snobs, Coldplay fans & even those who celebrate the irresponsibility & violence of Stapp & Heath's other work... but we're not going to go into all of that just yet, as we've got a new album to talk about first...
'The Shape of Grunge to Come' is Deja Voodoo's alternative debut - a re-ignition of the hard rock & punk attitude & everyman accessibility that their peers from Seattle back in the day sweated out. Sure, the lyrics are still "a bit shit", but they are an honest expression of the everyday life that Deja Voodoo & their audience experience, which only adds to the band's return to their proud & ancient roots.
