Originally recorded as a love letter to tour mates, LCD Soundsystem, 'See Mystery Lights' is a recording of anthemic power jams, soaked in holy water and rewritten into new mantras.
YACHT is kind of a band, but mostly it's a genre & media spanning life project founded & led by Jona Bechtolt of Portland, Oregon... Jona (and new member Claire L. Evans) makes anthemic power jams, soaking them in holy water and then rewriting them into new mantras.
"'See Mystery Lights' runs precisely programmed digital ear candy through a Talking Heads-ish art-pop sensibility, tossing in congas, Afropop chords and loads of synth squiggles."
-ROLLING STONE
"They tweak both T-Pain and rocksteady legend Desmond Dekker, and their deadpan lyrics debunk everything from gentrification to the hereafter."
-SPIN
""The Afterlife" & "Psychic City (Voodoo City)" both throb with humid jungle-boogie grooves... Brainy and block-rocking rarely coexist like this."
-ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
"'See Mystery Lights' is a refreshing exploration of electronic music that allows its freak flag to fly."
-BILLBOARD
"A sassy collage of Bowie's 'Young Americans', post-punk mavericks, Tom Tom Club, and electro-flavoured labelmates, The Juan Maclean..."
