Britain's leading female jazz singer Claire Martin returns with her 12th album, 'A Modern Art'.
"Martin's voice sounds richer and her delivery more relaxed than before, and if one or two of the Latin grooves and sumptuous textures occasionally give the set a smooth jazz quality, its title track's sentiment resists. The continuing refinement of this elegant jazz artist is palpable."
- John Fordham, The Guardian
In 1991, at the age of 21, Martin formed her own jazz quartet, and was signed by Linn Records. Her debut album, 'The Waiting Game' was extremely well reviewed and was selected by The Times. Martin continued performing and recording, garnering numerous awards and rave reviews, throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, including awards from the British Jazz Awards and BBC Jazz Awards for "Best Vocalist".
Featured on this album are two new original songs by Claire, alongside new songs by Mark Winkler, Joshua Redman, Lauren Kinhan, Colin Lazzerini and all time favourite writers Donald Fagan, Micheal Franks, Cy Colemand and Rodgers & Hart.
