Curtis Mayfield is one of the most important and highly regarded names in soul, whose influence on American black music and culture has been immense.
The solo albums he recorded between 1970 up until the time of his tragic accident in 1990 and which were released on his own record label, Curtom Records, remain as testament to his genius. Two of these make up this single CD release.
1976's 'Give, Get, Take and Have' features the singles Only You Babe and Party Night along with the superb Mr. Welfare Man, which Mayfield had written two years earlier for the 'Claudine' soundtrack.Curtis followed this up with 1977's 'Never Say You Can't Survive'. Regarded as one of his finest album's it features the single Show Me Love, and Sparkle a track which was later covered by Aretha Franklin.
