Soundway Records presents a welcome rekindling of their Nigeria Special series, emphasizing the vitality of Africa's most populated nation - 'Nigeria Special - Volume 2 - Modern Highlife, Afro Sounds & Nigerian Blues 1970-76'.

The critically acclaimed 1st volume was released in 2007. Vol. 2 further extends the look at the most exiting period on Nigeria's recording history and is once again compiled by Soundway label boss, cratedigger and DJ Miles Cleret.

Many of the tracks here have been forgotten or out of print for nearly 35 years. The range of styles vary from highlife to juju and Nigerian blues in 4 different languages; as well as a peppering of 'afro' experimentation, jazz and heavy blues, the same musical stew pervades Vol. 2 as its predecessor with a similar focus on the laidback and mid tempo feels.

'Nigeria Special Vol. 2' is released as a CD digi with 18 tracks and a full-colour 24-page booklet with nuggets of historical information and a background to the scene at the time.
