Max Reger's fiendishly challenging Piano Concerto in F minor (compared at the time to Brahms's First Piano Concerto) was misunderstood by audiences at the time, with some deeming the musical language too severe and serious. Even today it is not often seen in the concert hall.
Michael Korstick performs the challenging concerto with intellectual grace. The disc ends with Bach's Concerto in D minor arranged by Busoni.
Bach, J S:
Keyboard Concerto No. 1 in D minor, BWV1052 (arr. Busoni)
Reger:
Piano Concerto in F minor, Op. 114
