'In Mourning for the Pride of Petravore' is the debut album from Auckland-based band Forbidden Joe. The group bring together their diverse musical backgrounds and influences of jazz, soul, Celtic and folk, and their unique instrumentation of concertina, banjo, cello and trombone, to create a storm on the New Zealand alt-folk scene.
A natural follow on from their light and quirky EP, 'Oh, What a Queer Sensation' (2008), 'In Mourning for the Pride of Petravore' shows how the trio's sound has progressed to encompass a darker, more mysterious cabaret sound.
