Addictive rhythms. Soulful vocals. Pinches of dub, funk, reggae & gospel. Oh-so-subtle samples + innovative electronics. And underpinning it all, Skip McDonald's shimmering blues guitar licks...

Conjuring a space where the dirt roads of the Deep South meet the shiny lanes of the Information Superhighway, legendary guitarist Skip "Little Axe" McDonald might not have sold his soul at the crossroads, but he's looked both ways - down the road of the old blues and up the highway of the future - before proceeding.

After a series of classic studio-based albums, Little Axe have returned to their roots on 'Bought for a Dollar, Sold for a Dime'. Indeed, for the first time in 17 years the original crew (including soul singer, Bernard Fowler; drummer, Keith LeBlanc; and bassist, Doug Wimbish - who all worked previously together under the name Tackhead, plus a number of other aliases) came together in the Big Room at Real World for this rare & privileged session, alongside Skip and his co-producer, British dub maestro, Adrian Sherwood...

With the help of a select number of other talented session players & friends, our heroes cut what essentially is a live album of Skip's best tracks under the Little Axe banner. The results are nothing short of spine-tinglingly beautiful and a pure joy to listen to over 'n' over again. Certainly, 'Bought for a Dollar Sold for a Dime' sees these master musicians at the very peak of their prowess.
