Soul, Funk, Jazz: all the music genres in vogue during the '70s were celebrated by Blaxploitation films and have inspired this collection.
'Nu Rare Groove' is a special tribute to the Blaxploitation fims - the Black American movie style of the '70s - that reasserted the value of Afro-American culture and took part in its emancipation. Each new film was an opportunity to provide a quality soundtrack.
The most famous to participate in the experience was James Brown (Black Caeser), Curtis Mayfield (Superfly), Johnny Pate (Brother on the Run), Roy Ayers (Coffy) and Willie Hutch (The Mack).
Soul, Funk, Jazz: all the music genres in vogue during the '70s were celebrated by Blaxploitation films and have inspired this collection - bringing together rare tracks from prestigious labels such as Hot Wax, Invictus and Malaco… only available on vinyl until now.
The first in a series of three volumes 'Nu Rare Grooves' will open the floodgates to a complete collection of Afro Funk, Latin Jazz and Soul. 'Nu Rare Groove' features current bands who utilize vintage instruments to give funk a relevant aesthetic, such as tracks by The Bamboos, Breakestra and Quantic Soul Orchestra.
