Desolation Boulevard (U.S. Edition)

Often disregarded as a mere bubblegum pop group, Sweet were talented musicians who could play as well as (if not better!) than their hard rock contemporaries. Their live shows were loud, stunning extravaganzas and they (along with Marc Bolan and David Bowie) were true Glam originators. They were all good singers too - the multi-layered vocal harmonies of Connolly, Priest, Scott and Tucker preceded the likes of Queen.

Early in 1974 they had released their 'Sweet Fanny Adams' album, clearly indicating the heavier direction they would be taking. By the time of this record, Sweet had proven that were a very credible hard rock band in their own right. They had all the abilities necessary and no longer needed the services of hit songwriters / producers Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman.

Released a year after the original UK version, the American edition of Sweet's 'Desolation Boulevard' is actually a compilation of tracks from 'DB', 'Sweet Fanny Adams' and singles.
