Produced by T Bone Burnett, this is Earle's first collection of original material since his 2007 Grammy Award winning, 'Washington Square Serenade'.
Steve Earle presents 'I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive', the anticipated follow up to the Grammy Award winning 2009 release 'Townes'. The 11-track set was produced by T Bone Burnett and is Earle's first collection of original material since his 2007 Grammy Award winning, 'Washington Square Serenade'.
"Steve Earle has never been one to 'speak softly'. A storyteller through and through, Earle has used his gift to comment on society and politics, most notably the 'War on Drugs' (Copperhead Road), post 9/11 America (Jerusalem) and the 2004 US elections (The Revolution Starts Now).
The T Bone Burnett produced I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive is no exception of course, here Earle offers his opinion on the oil spill in 'The Gulf Of Mexico', almost spitting out the title phrase during the a cappella opening. And that's just the way Earle fans like it.
Of course that isn't to say Earle isn't capable of gorgeous balladry as well, ('Galway Girl' anyone?), here most evident in 'Every Part Of Me' and a duet with his lovely wife Alison Moorer 'Heaven Or Hell'. The album also includes the celebrated song 'This City', written for the TV series Treme.
I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive is a brilliant showcase of an artist who is willing to challenge, who still believes that music can change things, and is willing to give it a bloody good shot."
