On "Land of Our Dreams", which Steve composed as a tribute to Peter Jackson's movie 'Lord of the Rings', we hear the stunning vocals of his daughter Hollie Smith. Steve's interpretation of the old Emerson Lake and Palmer hit "Lucky Man" is absolutely gorgeous. Instruments on this album are bagpipes, bodhran, cello, violin, guitars, keyboards and percussion.

'Ballads & Battles' is a mix of subtle folk styled ballads and some powerful red blooded arrangements, all with that unique Celtic treatment McDonald is famous for. With his heart still entrenched in his Scottish heritage, you can feel the passion in his vocals, yet the mix of old and new instruments gives his sound it's unique signature.
