Mixed Blood

Wally De Backer, the home production maestro behind Gotye's far-flung musical meanderings presents 'Mixed Blood', an album of sonic reinventions of tracks from both 'Like Drawing Blood' and his acclaimed debut 'Boardface'.

A natural step from albums that were themselves cobbled together from myriad samples, snippets of live instruments and diverse vocal and production ideas, this collection of re-workings are "the tracks that might have been", had the initial process been one of collaboration rather than isolation.

"The Mixed Blood project hasn't been about getting the biggest international names to remix, cover or mash up tracks, but rather to focus on the alternative and emerging talent in our own backyard", says De Backer.

What you will find here is an eclectic blend of soundscapes, each unique to the reinventing artist's particular aesthetic disposition, and often truly distinct from the original recording. Not quite a remix record, far off a tribute covers album, 'Mixed Blood' is something of a parallel musical journey to the Gotye story of the last few years.
