Mike Nock's 40 odd minute composition 'Transformations', was recorded live on October 1st, 2011 at Ilott Theatre by Radio New Zealand Concert producer, Rebecca Blundell.
Engineered by Darryl Starck.
Colin Hemmingsen (saxophones, clarinet) is joined by the New Zealand String Quartet, Nick Tipping (bass) and John Rae (drums).
"The String Quartet play very strongly and bassist Nick Tipping and drummer John Rae provide exemplary support (and a brilliant drum solo too). But if there are stars on this recording, they are Nock at the piano and Hemmingsen on reeds, whose playing is so attuned to the work it's tempting to think it was written for him..."
