Lovesexy

Prince's Lovesexy was met with reasonably muted reviews at the time of release which, given time, was probably a little harsh. Purple Rain and Around the World in a Day were just two absolute pop classics that he'd released in the previous 5 years. His magnum opus, Sign o' the Times, was released the year before Lovesexy and cast a shadow such that few reviewers gave Lovesexy the time and space it truly deserved.

The uplifting energy of opening track "Eye No", the killer funk of lead single "Alphabet Street" and the seductive balladry of "When 2 R In Love" all point to an album that deserves more of a considered listen than it received upon release.
