The George Mitchell Minstrels presented traditional American minstrel fare from the turn of the century and the heyday of both American and British vaudeville. There was also an element of country music as well as the use of British Music Hall standards from the Edwardian era.
Featured here are two original albums from the most popular British LP act of the pre-Beatles era whose Saturday night BBC TV show was the highest rated variety show of the '60s
Despite the controversy that now surrounds the whole concept of Minstrels there is certainly nothing offensive about listening to these albums which between them sold an incredible number of records and are well overdue for reappraisal.
