It's a long road to anywhere from the Essex Delta. The good thing about Boulter - whose second solo album away from the Lucky Strikes this is - is that he's intent on the events of the journey rather than on what awaits at the end of the A13.
This is muted, Americana-derived English guitar and drums music that wears its influences delicately, even as it cleaves to them. His voice is as light as Michael Stipe's and there's no shortage of weather or hearts.
Despite his workload he's managed to find the time to write and record his second solo album (following The Whispering Pines release - his chosen moniker for his debut) The Water Or The Wave an eleven track offering of original songs on which Boulter plays guitars, banjo mandolin, pedal steel, recorder, keyboards and hammered dulcimer bringing to life some exquisite songs with his endearing vocal - it's no wonder he's in high demand.
