Guild Music's first 'Musical Kaleidoscope' (GLCD 5139) could not accommodate all the special requests and 'leftovers' from previous collections, so this second volume had to follow. There are two special features this time, the first being a selection called "Short and Sweet"; this offers five brief pieces from production music libraries by leading composers which each became familiar through their frequent use particularly in radio and television around fifty years ago - one of them is still regularly heard today. The second feature is a collection of four moody, serious works entitled "Drama, Menace and Excitement", with the final track being the closing music for the first two series of the BBC's famous "Quatermass" back in the 1950s.
