Born in the hills west of Auckland, New Zealand in the 1980s, the Bird Nest Roys spent a long time evolving into an intelligent life-form before being discovered by the public at large in 1985. A big band by NZ standards - with six members - their infectious brand of 60's style pop came complete with multiple vocal harmonies and quite literally layered guitars (with up to four in unison), with members of the band later going on to play with likes of the 3Ds, Snapper and The Tufnels.
