Shafqat Ali Khan's music is thoroughly rooted in the Sufi tradition. Shafqat skilfully blends old and new, mixing the traditional sounds of the music of his homeland with that of electric guitars, synthesizers (Doug McKeehan) and saxophones (George Brooks). At its heart, though, remains the spiritual quest that has been the essence of Sufi music for hundreds of years.
