The debut solo album by Rilo Kiley frontwoman Jenny Lewis.
Recorded with a who's who of the LA indie scene and featuring wonderful harmonies from the Watson sisters Chandra and Leigh, this is a journey into previously uncharted waters by Lewis. Gospel, Folk, Country and Bluegrass all become touchstones on these recordings of confessional musings from ex-child actor Lewis.
The title track in particular is an autobiographical tale of the stage-mum antics from her Mother, while 'Happy' hints at the potential self-destruction of relationships. The slow-burn of 'Born Secular' is another highlight and a fantastic example of how great the three vocalist's work in conjunction with each other.
