This second Rattle Jazz release from Samsom Nacey Haines is a strikingly original work from one of New Zealand's finest jazz ensembles: Ron Samsom (drums), Dixon Nacey (guitar) and Kevin Haines (bass).
The tracks on their previous album (Oxide, RAT-J-1004) were written by the individual members of the trio, but for this album the material was jointly composed. The result is a particularly coherent and focused work, with each piece contributing equally to a wonderfully strong album from one of New Zealand's finest and widely acclaimed jazz ensembles.
"Beautifully recorded at Roundhead Studios by Neil Baldock and given substantial but sensitive packaging by Rattle, this is the kind of local jazz album which can only come from that internal chemistry in a band of like-minded but different players who have taken the time to work together, listen to each other and make the connections." - Graham Reid, Elsewhere
