Will Wood never really thought he'd be a solo artist. Growing up as a classically trained pianist and violinist, at the age of 19 he decided what he really wanted to do was be a drummer, so he took a weekend job at Auckland's fabled pair of alternative venues Wine Cellar and Whammy Bar where he worked as a bartender, bouncer and eventually manager, in order to meet some people to play drums for, and play drums he did.

Now at the ripe old age of 25 and a veteran of the music scene (having most recently been drumming for country giants Bernie Griffen and the Grifters and continuing to play with the electrifying Auckland hardcore punk act Parents) Will is stepping out from behind the drumkit to release his first solo album on Lyttelton Records, a ten track showcase of his unique alt-country songwriting recorded by Ben Edwards in Lyttelton's famed studio The Sitting Room and featuring contributions from some of the country's finest musicians such as Dave Khan (Tim Finn, Don McGlashan, Tami Neilson, The Grifters), Reb Fountain (The Eastern) and Delaney Davidson. These songs have all been written and road tested over the last 18 months that Will has spent trying to fit being a solo performer and songwriter into his already full schedule of drumming, finishing his psychology degree and working his day job in South Auckland's mental health system. Despite his myriad commitments he has managed to play solo shows across the country and in the US, and has toured with acts like The Handsome Family, Wagons, and Frank Turner.
