Sought-after DJ Ronson's first album (Here Comes the Fuzz) was released back in 2003. He went on to produce tracks for several musicians including Amy Winehouse and Adele. Subsequent albums Version (2007) and Record Collection (2010) both reached Top 10 in the UK, produced several top 10 singles. In 2008 Ronson was awarded a Brit for Best Male Solo Artist.
He returned to the studio in 2013 and began work on Uptown Special which features collaborations with Bruno Mars, Mystikal, Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, Hudson Mohawke, and Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford, Uptown Special also features lyrics written by novelist Michael Chabon.
"this thoroughly modern musical gentleman is clearly a lover of all things retro, because with Uptown Special he takes his big band-soul-funk-disco know-how and blends it with the likes of Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, Michael Jackson reincarnation Bruno Mars, New Orleans James Brown-esque rapper Mystikal, promising newcomer Keyone Starr, and electro-pop producer/vocalist Andrew Wyatt.
The result is a surprisingly effervescent record, which revives disco as a genre to be lauded rather than laughed at, and spins it in a wacky, woozy, fun, direction." - NZ Herald 4/5
