On her sixth album for the Myrios Classics label, Tabea Zimmermann has chosen a collection of romantic miniatures for the viola, including almost entirely forgotten works by popular composers of the 19th century, like Liszt, Vierne, Vieuxtemps and Wieniawski. At the heart of this recital is 'Album Leaves' by the Bohemian composer Hans Sitt, a contemporary of Johannes Brahms. Tabea Zimmermann's long-term musical partner, pianist Thomas Hoppe, joins her for this recording. In October 2014, Tabea Zimmermann was awarded the German music prize ECHO KLASSIK as Instrumentalist of the Year for her complete recordings of Paul Hindemith's viola works. It is her second award in this same category since 2010.

"Zimmermann and Hoppe capture the poetry of these works, in their hands free from sentiment and rich as short stories." (Observer)

"[Zimmermann] consistently uncovers telling detail of compositional craft, backed to the hilt by Thomas Hoppe's always revealing pianism…this recital is a beautiful addition to Myrios's growing catalogue; the recording quality and presentation are up to the label's usual high standards." (The Strad)

"This collection of Romantic pieces is remarkable for the outstanding quality of the playing. Tabea Zimmermann and Thomas Hope give every indication of enjoying the music and it's evident that they have given much thought to the essential character of each piece...a fascinating programme, with wonderful performances." (Gramophone)

"The major discovery here is Hans Sitt's Op. 39 Albumblatter, six Schumannesque miniatures that Zimmermann nurtures and caresses with a bewitching range of tonal colours, further enhanced by Thomas Hoppe's pitch-perfect accompaniment." (BBC Music Chamber Choice of the Month April 2015)
