The exuberance of musical theatre and the passion of grand opera, brought to glorious life by four of Australia's finest singers and the splendour of the symphony orchestra: From Broadway to La Scala is set to be the runaway musical hit of 2015.
From Rossini to Rodgers and Hammerstein, Bizet to Gershwin, and Verdi to Lloyd Webber, this stunning new album features many of the greatest songs, arias and duets of the last two centuries, performed by four of Australia's most highly acclaimed singers.
Lisa McCune is one of Australia's most popular screen and theatre actors, with plaudits including four Gold Logies for Most Popular Personality on Australian television; David Hobson is a chart-topping operatic, concert and stage performer, who shot to fame with his performance as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrman's production of La bohème; Greta Bradman is a rising star of the Australian operatic world, with a voice acclaimed by Richard Bonynge as "the sort we only dream about today"; and ARIA winner Teddy Tahu Rhodes has wowed global audiences for two decades with the warmth and power of his voice.
Highlights include Greta and David combining in The Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera; operatic splendour from Teddy in the Toreador's Song from Carmen; and Lisa's performance of My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music. The album opens with a spectacular arrangement of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah (made famous by Jeff Buckley) featuring all four singers.
The album was produced by legendary music director / producer Chong Lim (Kylie Minogue, Australia's Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, Dirty Dancing), and accompanies a nationwide tour in September 2015 which includes performances at the Sydney Opera House and Hamer Hall, Melbourne.
