Pascal Rogé is today's greatest ambassador and stylist in French piano music. Winner of two Gramophone Awards, his name has been synonymous for many years with the finest French piano-playing both in concerts and on disc.
On this disc he is joined by his pianist wife Ami and percussionists Paul Clarvis and Joby burgess for an exciting recital including a world premiere recording of a work composed for the Rogé's : Matthew Hindson's Pulse Magnet, Bartok's masterful Sonata for two pianos and percussion, and the rarely heard arrangement by Ravel of his Bolero for the same forces. The fame of Bolero always irked its composer: 'I've written only one masterpiece - Boléro. Unfortunately there's no music in it,' was his wry comment to fellow-composer Arthur Honegger.
Bartok: Sonata for 2 pianos & percussion
Hindson: Pulse Magnet (premiere recording)
Ravel: Bolero (arr.composer)
