The fourth album of Etta's career, Sings For Lovers was produced by label heads Phil and Leonard Chess and released on the Argo imprint in 1962. Only one track was issued as a single, Fools Rush In, which barely made #87 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself failed to chart on either the pop or R&B listings, yet there is a quality throughout the album that ensures it remains worthy of attention. Whilst much of the material could be regarded as 'standards' - These Foolish Things, How Do You Speak To An Angel and Prisoner Of Love are among the ten tracks on display - Etta injects her own interpretation into each and every one of them. Surprisingly, despite being the album that Etta herself stated was her favourite, this is probably the first time it has been issued on CD.
