A Bigger Splash (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

The soundtrack to A Bigger Splash features an eclectic mix of tracks including 'Moon is Up' and 'Heaven' by The Rolling Stones and a newly recorded version of The Rolling Stones' track, 'Emotional Rescue' by St. Vincent.

'A Bigger Splash' is a sensuous portrait of desire, jealousy and rock and roll, under the Mediterranean sun, starring Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades Of Grey), Matthias Schoenaerts (Far from the Maddening Crowd) and Academy Award winner Tilda Swinton (I Am Love). The drama centres around rock legend Marianne Lane who is recuperating on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner Paul when iconoclast record producer and old flame Harry unexpectedly arrives with his daughter Penelope and interrupts their holiday, bringing with him an A-bomb blast of nostalgia from which there can be no rescue.

Director Luca Guadagnino comments: "In A Bigger Splash, I envisioned a film about love, beauty, desire, sex, sexuality and the danger of an old lover who by his own presence and actions can trigger destructive behaviour and bring back the pasts of our lead characters… To me A Bigger Splash is a truly contemporary portrait of our time and a side of Italy that is usually reserved to very few."

Guadagnino also enjoyed some advice from The Rolling Stones, whose music forms a key part of the film: "We had this wonderful meeting with Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, who were very elegant and nice, and they gave us some tips. We wanted to not only have Ralph Fiennes' character being a part of the history of the Stones, we also wanted them being acknowledged in this history by playing the music. Also, we wanted the music of the Stones in the film because of the history of this film."

Alongside The Rolling Stones, the soundtrack to A Bigger Splash also includes music from Captain Beefheart, Robert Mitchum, Chrisma, Nilsson, Popol Vuh. The album concludes with St. Vincent's powerful new version of 'Emotional Rescue'.
